A sensation from nature may be translated into a conversation if we allow nature to express itself. Scientists have proven plants exchange information with each other through the air, roots and sound. An Invitation to a Conversation (2017) creates a space for dialogue between humans and nature. This project aims to call attention to environmental conservation and intentionally influence how we look at nature by challenging humans mentally and emotionally.
The works themselves are experimental. They are the outcomes of a process that involves memory and the practice of observing the ambience in our forests. Handmade tools made from cabbage tree leaves are used, along with seagull feathers and brushes attached to seaweed stems; all contribute to ‘authentic’ translations from nature. These tools allow for an artistic process alternating between "letting go" and “control” in the works.
Size and colour play essential roles, with the intention to strike audiences with instant and overwhelming emotion. The hope is to open humans' minds – and lead them into a conversation with nature.

"An Invitation to a Conversation" aims to awaken and engage the human mind, nurturing a meaningful dialogue with the natural world. This project aspires to foster a sense of responsibility and stewardship towards environmental conservation by challenging our preconceived notions and expanding our perspectives. Through artistic expression and immersion, it endeavours to bridge the gap between humans and nature, encouraging us to listen intently to the whispers of the earth and forge a harmonious relationship with the ecosystems that sustain us.
This work emerges as a profound artistic endeavour that reminds us of our innate connection to nature. The project aims to create authentic translations from the natural world by employing experimental techniques and handcrafted tools. Through the interplay of size, colour, and emotional resonance, audiences are invited to embark on a transformative journey that challenges their perceptions and kindles a profound dialogue with nature. I intentionally explore and inspire relationships between humans and nature; to preserve the fragile beauty surrounding us, forging a path towards a more harmonious coexistence with our natural environment.
